How To Make Bridesmaid Boxes

I always knew who I would pick to be my bridesmaids, I just wanted to make sure that when I asked them it would be special. Rather than a quick text or a phone call, I decided to create bridesmaid boxes as a gift and proposal. I wanted to capture the moment I asked my four best ladies to be by my side on one of the most important days of my life.

I wanted it to be as memorable for them as it was for me.

The bridesmaid boxes were relatively simple but I did spend an inordinate amount of time choosing what to include. I could have easily have gone to town and splashed out on lots of gifts, but as the wedding will be costing lots of cash-money I figured that symbolic and thoughtful was the best avenue to go down.

I ordered silver boxes off the internet, I won’t link to the supplier because they were actually terrible boxes. Boxes cost quite a bit people! If possibly I would recommend saving any shoes boxes you have and covering those instead.

Inside the boxes I added some shredded tissue paper which I ordered off Amazon. It was fairly affordable and made the boxes look more presentation-like. But you could totally use sheets of tissue paper or individually wrap each gift.

The gifts I chose included a notebook and pen for them to write bridesmaid/wedding-related notes and ideas, a nail varnish in my favourite colour, some chocolate to sweeten the experience, and a scented candle to relax from all the wedding busy-ness.

The under-18s received a box of Lindor chocolates and my maid of honour was treated to some Charbonnel and Walker champagne truffles.

Each bridesmaid received a handwritten card with a poem asking them to be my bridesmaid/maid of honour. The poem added some fun to the card, although I can’t take credit for it (I found it doing the rounds in some wedding Facebook groups).

And that’s it! My bridesmaid boxes I gifted to each bridesmaid as I asked them to be my bridesmaid.

  • Cupcakes
  • Personalised chocolate bar
  • Mini bottle of bubbly
  • Personalised bottle of booze

  • Agenda or list of important dates for planning
  • Ribbons
  • Bubbles
  • Mini make-up palette
  • Nail varnish
  • Notebook and pen
  • Chocolate
  • Candle

I am super happy with how my boxes turned out. They had exactly the desired effect I was going for and as you can see from the video below the girls loved them.

I am so lucky I got to capture the moments on video. I spent a couple of days travelling around the country to make sure I asked them all with 24 hours of each other. It was quite a feat!

What a cute idea. I had fourteen bridesmaids so I was far less romantic about it – thank heavens for email!

I so love that you made the video, you’ll love watching that back in 5 years time 🙂

I ended up making tote bags for my bridesmaids – boxes are so expensive! And I figured a tote bag they could reuse again and again too.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Wow what a surprising tutorial, I really love doing such creative work. This is the best way to express your love to other. Really, I don’t have credit. I had no idea to do like that but getting amazed to see your awesome Bridesmaid box. This looks more catchy and unique in design.

I have just bookmarked this paper to my web browser and I would like to make this and introduce to my friends. She will like this. Since, I love craft and creativity and specially paper art is good for me. I had made many interesting and beautiful things using paper art.

Thanks for sharing. Watching your video was awesome.
