Last night, around 11.30pm I went for a pee. This is important. Because during that pee I came up with the idea to do a rap entry for the Marie Forleo B-School scholarship competition. Have you ever found you come up with the best ideas in the bathroom? Well, I certainly do. (I like to think they are good ideas anyway).
Sure enough, I present my idea to the boyf who helped me pick a song, which I then proceeded to re-write into the early hours of the morning.
I chose C.R.E.A.M. by Wu Tang Clan, known for its chorus Cash Rules Everything Around Me …
I thought this would be apt given that the scholarship is for a business school. And a big part of wanting to run my own business is to achieve financial freedom.
I thought doing a rap on youtube would be the most ridiculous thing I could possibly do. I mean, talk about being outside my comfort zone! I didn’t even know the song properly until last night. I had to rewrite the rap (actually harder than it seems) and then learn the rhythm for the rap. I rehearsed like a mofo, non-stop, until I was confident enough to rap the whole verse. It’s insanely difficult.
So, there we have it. I have potentially publicly embarrassed myself with a ridiculous rap on youtube. But all in the name of possibly furthering myself as a person and business owner. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
If you would like to support me, and I’d be incredibly grateful for anyone that does, I would love it if you could watch this video, give it the youtube thumbs up and possibly comment on the youtube comments section. I’m dying to get my video in front of Marie Forleo and any help you can give me to help me achieve that would be totally awesome.
Now I’m off to hide under the kitchen table. Eeeeeek!
Please be gentle with me.
