Who Inspires You?

I love this question. I really do. It’s probably my favourite topic out of all of the Blog Every Day in May topics. You see, I just love to open my mind to be inspired by everything and everyone around me. The world is full of so much interest and it’s kind of my life’s mission to fill my brain with as much of it as possible. But who inspires me? That’s a tough question in some ways because there are so many inspiring people who have influenced me and my life. In art (Frida Kahlo), music (PJ Harvey), literature (George Orwell), photography (Man Ray), film (Sofia Coppola), politics (Aung San Suu Kyi, Mahatma Gandhi) and religion (Dalai Lama) there are many greats. But today I want to take it back to Blogging, of course, and share some of the people who have inspired me over the past few years in this crazy world of Blogging.

A Beautiful Mess Elsie

Elsie Larson – A Beautiful Mess

I’ve been following this blog for many years and watching how Elsie is able to harness trends and ideas and produce a stunning ever-popular blog. It has been fascinating. She has a relentless work ethic and a drive to keep pushing. A Beautiful Mess is now a well-oiled blogging machine and I am continually in awe of their achievements so far. There is much to learn here and I cannot deny that it has influenced me as a Blogger.

Domestic Sluttery Sian

Sian Meades – Domestic Sluttery

I think Domestic Sluttery may have been one of the very first blogs (other than travel blogs) I read way back in 2009. It opened my eyes to a world of Stuff and a way of blogging about everything you love. Sian has built a great team of writers around her (of which I was one for just over a year) and the recipe ideas are inspiring, the design finds are brilliant and there is plenty of quirky to keep you happy. I also heard Sian give a talk at a Blogger event in 2011 where she talked about the importance of ‘community’ in Blogging. Her points really struck a chord with me and continue to influence me today.

El Jones – A Thrifty Mrs

El and I found each other pretty early on in my Rosalilium days. I think we bonded over a love of scouring car boot sales for vintage finds and were constantly jealous of each others hauls. I doubt much has changed there to be honest. Watching El’s blog grow and boom over the past couple of years has been wonderful to admire. She has clearly worked her socks off and has influenced so many people’s lives with her excellent tips and advice. I know she has lots of exciting times to come and I am so happy to call her a friend. She inspires me with her solid work ethic and sharp intelligence.

The list could go on… there are so many brilliant Bloggers who inspire me on a daily basis. Check my links page for other awesome Bloggers I like. But I think you will agree that the three lovely ladies above are quite the inspiration.

Are there any Bloggers that inspire YOU?!

I LOVE all of these blogs too (and Sian is a sweetheart) – I seriously don’t know how Elsie finds the time to accomplish so much in such a small time frame! She’s an inspiration to us all.

If you don’t read them already, I think you’ll like http://witandwhistle.com and http://onesheepishgirl.blogspot.co.uk

Awww, reading this has made me happy indeed!

Can I tell you a secret? I thought my talk that day was a total mess and I was mortified. I thought *I* was a mess and was angry that I hadn’t been as clear as I wanted to be and wasn’t as helpful to the people at the event as I wanted to have been. After that talk, I forced myself to get better at public speaking and talking to an audience – I learnt Powerpoint and stopped being a scaredy cat. It really means a lot that you got something out of what I was trying to say.

Much love to you, lady. Really hope I can get to Birmingham for Blognix. That’s pretty damn inspiring as well y’know.

Wow, that’s so interesting! I got loads from your talk. I wrote loads of notes! I guess it really struck a chord with me. I thought you were rad. Well, I still do! So hoorah to you!

This is such a lovely post and what you’ve said about these bloggers rings so true! I so wish I had got on board with the #BEDM but November sounds great!

By the way, you are also an inspiration, you come across as such a lovely person through your blog. Incredibly friendly but knowledgeable and kind with a great mix of posts. I was so sad your shop didn’t work out but the lessons you wrote up about it were so useful to me. I am terrified of failure and could never be so open and honest, I think you taught me that there’s no shame in it. Sorry for the rambling post but just wanted to let you know that your blog inspires ME!

Awww you’ve made me blush. I have a lot of admiration for you Elizabeth – you put in a lot of work and I notice how you strive to try new things and keep on the blogging ball.
